Our most recent project is a collaboration that was brought to us by Dr. Samuel Sia.  His biomedical research lab at Columbia University is working on a blood diagnostic device for rural clinics in Africa.  He came to the incubator to incorporate design from the beginning of the process.  The incubator has put together an outstanding team of Pratt alumni to work on the project.  The team includes design researchers, industrial designers, photographers and interface designers.  We reached out to Smart Design for mentorship - they are working with the team to integrate the engineering with the design.

This model of collaboration is the vision of the Pratt Design Incubator; to bring together the talent of the design disciplines at Pratt - in partnership with research institutions and the design profession - to accomplish projects that service the needs of the global community.
