Domestic Aesthetic
“Live well, live right” is the company’s philosophy that you can have products that enhance your life while taking into account people and our planet. Domestic Aesthetic’s mission is to offer consumers affordable home products that adhere to environmentally and socially responsible standards.
Founded by Diane Ruengsorn, the idea for Domestic Aesthetic was born from her experiences in the furniture industry. While apprenticing for a furniture designer/manufacturer, she witnessed the chemicals and materials that workers were exposed to on a daily basis. This led her to believe that products could be produced with people-friendly materials and methods that didn’t harm anyone in the process.

Domestic Aesthetic launched in 2008. In our first year we've received great attention from publications and blogs such as Treehugger, Interior Design, and multiple features in the New York Times. The company's line of ecoluxe housewares can now be found in stores across the US and Canada, including the MoMa Design store.
The Incubator has been a tremendous help in Domestic Aesthetic's development. When I first entered in 2007, Domestic Aesthetic was merely a vision for creating products that could promote and educate consumers about sustainability. By being apart of a supportive network of like-minded entrepreneurs, it gave me the encouragement to continuously move forward. The people the incubator connected me to and the conversations I've had throughout my involvement have all shaped the resultant effort and were a great factor in the company's success.
Future plans include international expasion of the product line as well as developing a line of mass-market goods.
